Your Role:

The Merchandise Planner will play a hybrid role supporting three key functions: Merchandise Planning (50%), Deployment (30%), and Assortment Planning (20%). This role partners closely with the Merchant Team to shape and execute strategies that translate assortment vision into actionable, profitable plans aligned with financial targets. Core responsibilities include developing and optimizing choice count frameworks, driving productivity improvements, and allocating focused assortments across marketplaces. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and is energized by building processes in a nascent, rapidly growing business. The team manages assortments that span all categories within the business, requiring strong analytical acumen, financial rigor, and the ability to influence cross-functional partners.

Your Impact:

Planning (50%)

  • Pre-Season:  Connect statistical analysis, assortment architecture, and merchant vision into projections that align with anticipated future season sales targets — Work with cross-functional partners to pass buys in accordance with projected need and delivery timing
  • In-Season:  Analyze         current sales trends, collaborate with cross-functional partners to support need fluctuations
  • Establish pricing and promotion strategies, managing active pricing adjustments to reduce fees as needed.
  • Collaborate with merchant on strategies to maximize sales and margin for both pre-season and in-season
  • Partner with brands and merchants to execute promotional and liquidation (markdown) strategies
  • Provide ad hoc analysis of various topics to identify wins/opportunities that will drive future growth; share back with leaders during formal hindsight

Deployment (30%)

  • Allocate inventory to support sales across multiple channels
  • Manage inventory levels appropriately to mitigate monthly and long-term storage fees
  • Modify deployment strategies based on future promotional periods and seasonal builds

Assortment (20%)

  • Create standardized reporting to hindsight choice count and productivity by category/brand; share findings with cross-functional partners and leaders of the business
  • Leverage hindsight to make recommendations for future and in-season choice/style counts

Minimum Salary : $84,200.00
Maximum Salary : $114,975.00

VS&Co provides an estimated range of compensation for this role as shown. Your actual compensation will be determined by a number of relevant factors, including but not limited to your specific skills, experience, & geographic location.

Qualifications

Your Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Operations or Statistics.
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in retail merchandise planning, inventory management, financial planning or financial analysis required; direct and/or third-party planning experience is a plus
  • Amazon, Walmart, or other 3rd party marketplace experience is a plus
  • Strong numbers aptitude (statistical/accounting experience)
  • Proficient with forecasting methodologies and statistical modeling
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as presentation skills; concisely present complex information/recommendations in terms meaningful to various audiences
  • Ability to advance to high levels of computer literacy; exposure to relevant planning, finance, analytical, data management systems: Microsoft Office Suite; Excel Add-In; Enterprise Planning; and MicroStrategy
  • Analytical thinker and self-motivated problem solver
  • Adapts to situational demands, flexible and capable of managing competing priorities and multitasking
  • Highly collaborative team player
