VP IT (Enterprise Applications)
Role Purpose
The VP of IT Enterprise Applications will provide strategic leadership and vision across the full lifecycle of systems development, delivering scalable and effective enterprise solutions aligned with business and customer needs. This role requires deep expertise in modern engineering practices, technology leadership, organizational and financial management, team building, stakeholder management, program execution and vendor management.
The ideal candidate will have led large-scale transformations and complex multi-geography programs across diverse application landscapes, with experience managing organizations of 300 technologists. A strong command of technology budgeting, cost optimization, and vendor and support model negotiations is critical. Exceptional interpersonal skills and a proven ability to develop and retain high-performing talent are essential.
This leader will oversee SAP, Quality Assurance, HRMS, Supply Chain, PMO & SCRUM and Data Engineering teams based in Bangalore ensuring alignment with broader business and technology priorities. The role demands close collaboration with cross functional & cross geography leaders to define and implement impactful technology solutions. We are looking for a leader who has progressed from hands-on engineering and architecture into building and scaling high-performance enterprise application teams.
Core Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Operate with an enterprise-first mindset, leading as a part of a unified global IT organization and transcending geographic boundaries to drive aligned outcomes.

Drive the evaluation and adoption of emerging enterprise applications technologies and services to enhance business capability, operational efficiency and scaling across SAP, PMO & SCRUM, HRMS, Supply Chain, QA and Data platforms. Establish robust governance frameworks to assess and prioritize application enhancements, upgrades and new capabilities, ensuring alignment with business value, total cost of ownership and long-term architectural direction.

Own and shape the enterprise applications strategy roadmap, defining technology standards, architectural principles and lifecycle management approaches across software platforms, and infrastructure. Provide strategic direction on vendor ecosystems, sourcing models (in-house, outsourced, hosted), and partner engagements to optimize delivery and support models.

Oversee enterprise applications operations, driving optimal resource allocation, prioritization, and service delivery across support, enhancements and maintenance.

Maintain strong awareness of Enterprise Applications technologies and best practices; provide technical leadership by shaping solution direction and evaluating vendor capabilities in line with industry trends and the application roadmap.

Drive the workforce strategy for the Enterprise applications function in Bangalore, optimizing a blended (internal and outsourced) talent model to deliver capability, performance, and cost outcomes aligned with business priorities and the application roadmap.

Anticipate and build future ready capabilities by aligning workforce planning, skills development and training with the prioritized application roadmap.

Shape and govern technology investments by leading business case development and cost-benefit analysis for IT spend and capital initiatives.

Establish and embed robust reliability engineering practices, including incident management, root cause analysis, performance optimization and capacity planning.

Collaborate with executive leadership and functional heads to identify operational improvement opportunities, streamline workflows, and drive cost optimization initiatives.

Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor and evaluate operational performance, providing regular reports and insights to executive leadership.

Develop high-performing operational teams, cultivating a culture that embraces high-quality, high standards, accountability, continuous improvement, and efficiency.
Qualifications – Internal

Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems.

Preferred: Master’s Degree in either of these fields or Master’s in Business Administration.
Knowledge and Experience:

20+ years related work experience out of which 12+ years’ experience managing teams and directing technology operations.

Proven experience in managing global applications & global teams in an On/Off delivery model, technology development & delivery, project management and enterprise applications deployment.

Contribute to profitability with an understanding of the relationship between business and corporate level technology strategy

Demonstrated, hands-on leadership in development and implementation of contemporary enterprise technology architectures, best practices and current innovations across technology solutions and platforms.

Strategy and Architecture: Ability to define and evolve platform architecture and AI/ML-integrated services.

Team Leadership: Scaling engineering teams, mentoring junior talent, and ensuring high-performance culture across diverse teams.

Execution and Delivery: Overseeing development, implementation, and maintenance of large-scale enterprise applications, focusing on reliability and performance.

Budget and Operations: Plan annual budgets, considering headcount, technology infrastructure, and vendor partnerships.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with relevant stakeholder teams to align technical roadmaps with business strategies

Key Skills and Qualifications:

Experience: Substantial experience in B2B enterprise software development.

Technical Expertise: Strong background in software architecture, cloud engineering, and data management.

Proven track record of delivering large-scale, highly available systems and quality software products or components.

Demonstrated depth in architecture and system design, with the ability to guide and review complex, scalable solutions.
